Al Wafaa Charter School

WHERE EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUE

INSPIRING LIFELONG LEARNERS

Al Wafaa Charter KG is a caring community where each child is welcomed with love and accompanied on their learning journey. We succeed in combining academic excellence with a deep level of care, underpinned by a commitment to the individual needs and interests of each student.  Our curriculum aims to inspire lifelong learning and combines the best of traditional and innovative education, delivered by inspirational teachers.

At Al Wafaa Charter KG, we inspire our students and staff to explore, identify, and develop their passions and talents.

Our principles are: professional, spirited, pioneering and nurturing.

These principles feed directly into our behavior management style, where we encourage students to be kind, caring and helpful by taking care of their toys and sharing them with their friends. Like any other subject, we teach behavior through modelling, encouraging and reminding.

The Islamic standards of honesty, philanthropy, forgiveness, patience, respect and cooperation are also incorporated into our behavior value system, showing students how to be good citizens.

At Al Wafaa Charter KG, we follow the New York Common Core Curriculum Standards, as well as educational best practices for early years. Children are naturally curious and we believe that they progress best when they learn through play, investigation and their own areas of interest.

Our key learning principles:

  1. All children are capable of learning.
  2. Children develop at different rates and each child is unique.
  3. Children are active learners.
  4. Children’s learning should be integrated and occur simultaneously across all domains.
  5. Children learn best in the context of interactions and relationships.
  6. The family is a significant contributor to children’s lifelong development and learning.

These learning principles acknowledge, respect and embrace students’ diverse backgrounds, their heritage, cultures and linguistic experiences.

At Al Wafaa Charter KG, we believe that every child has the capacity to learn and progress at their own pace. In order to ensure that each student makes excellent progress, each stage of learning is assessed so that our teachers build on prior knowledge to extend the student’s understanding of the curriculum.

In KG 1 and KG 2 the children complete Mubakkir Arabic standardized tests and in KG 2 students write MAP standardized tests. In Academic Year 2021/22 our students scored very well, with more than 70% of students meeting or exceeding their growth targets.

At Al Wafaa Charter KG, every person is unique and special. This includes our students, parents, teachers, administration, nurses, security guards and bus monitors.

We cater for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) firstly through quality in-class teaching that is differentiated to meet each child’s needs. We also have a qualified SEN teacher and trained assistants to help and guide our Students of Determination on their learning journeys.

We welcome parents during drop-off and pick-up time, when they can have a quick conversation with the class teacher to hear how their child is doing.

We also invite the community to school events, such as parent-teacher meetings, the UAE National Day celebration, community iftars and KG 2 graduation and many more.
